Wasting a weight-tracked container in VetSnap involves two main steps: recording the waste and finishing the container.
Step 1: Record the Waste
Go to Manage Inventory.
Find the drug you are wasting and click Record Waste.
If the container you need to waste isn’t listed, click Open a Container first.
Enter the quantity to be wasted (the full amount being disposed of).
Note: Entering the pre- and post-weight is optional. It's only needed if available or if there is a noticeable weight change.
Add a detailed comment explaining the reason for the waste (e.g., expired, damaged, contaminated).
Two signatures are required to complete and save this action.
Step 2: Finish the Container
Go to Manage Containers.
Select the container you just recorded waste for.
Change the container status to Finished.
Enter the final bottle weight:
If the bottle still has its full weight (e.g., expired and sent to a reverse distributor), enter the current bottle weight.
If the bottle is broken or weight cannot be obtained, you may enter "0".
VetSnap will use the mass-to-quantity conversion to calculate what the expected balance was.
This may result in a discrepancy—that’s okay. Just complete the adjustment so that the final balance is zero.
Note:
We're working on improving this process in the future. For now, the recorded waste entry serves as your paper trail and supports the inventory adjustment.
