Step 1:
- Navigate to Manage Inventory
- Select Record Waste on the drug you are completing the waste for
- If the container needing to be wasted is not shown, you may need to select Open a Container
- You are not required to input the pre and post weight if this is not something available, or if the weight does not change.
- Input the entire quantity to be wasted
- Add a detailed comment explaining why the container is being wasted
- This action does require 2 signature for it to save.
Step 2:
- Navigate to Manage Containers
- Select the container that you entered the waste for
- Change the container status to Finished
- Here, the final bottle weight is required. If the bottle weight did not change (for example: expired bottle being sent to reverse distributor) then you can enter the entire current bottle weight. If you are not able to obtain a container weight (dropped and broken bottle) you can enter "0"
- Due to the mass to quantity conversion, VetSnap will calculate that the container started with a different balance than what was entered. This is okay. You will want to complete the adjustment accordingly in order for the container to end with a zero balance.
In the future, we hope to update this process. As for now, the paper trail indicating waste is acceptable for the adjustment that was made.
