Cocktails

  • Within Create Inventory, select “Create Controlled Inventory Item” and “Add Item Manually”, unless there is already an inventory item within their PIMS for the cocktail
    • The name of the Inventory Item should be the name of the cocktail they are creating, for example: “DKT"

  • Now, under each of the controlled drugs used to create the cocktail, the amount of the drug will need to be accounted for
    • If using 10 mls of Ketamine, under Ketamine navigate to “Manage Containers” and select edit for the container they will be using
    • Select make an adjustment
    • Adjust balance down for 10 mls
    • Within the comment section: “using to create DKT container # ___”
    • Repeat steps for other ingredients used to create the cocktail.
      • *Be sure to change the status of containers used to “finished” under manage containers if you use an entire container

  • Next, under manage inventory, restock for DKT
    • Enter in the entire quantity of the bottle (for example, if 10 mls of Dexmedetomidine, 10 mls of Ketamine, and 10 mls of Butorphanol, the quantity will be 30 mls)
    • Add in container number
    • Input “N/A” for the lot number, invoice number, and NDC number
    • Comment: “house made bottle of DKT created from Ketamine container # ___, Butorphanol container #___”

  • The container will then need to be opened, and when the container is used, create a log under the “DKT” tab for the amount of drug drawn from the bottle.
