If you're unable to find a drug in the VetSnap logbook, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • The drug isn't set up for logging in your VetSnap logbook.

  • The drug may be listed under a different (alternate) name.

  • The "Controlled Substance" box was unchecked during setup in the Create Inventory section.

What to do if the drug should be listed but isn't:

  1. Check your permissions.
You need administrative privileges to add or edit drugs. To verify:

    • Go to the Settings tab.

    • If you do not see "Create Inventory", reach out to your practice’s VetSnap administrator for assistance.

  2. Add the drug to inventory.
Once you have the necessary access:

    • Go to Settings > Create Inventory

    • Select Create Controlled Inventory Item

    • Search by the inventory item name or invoice line item ID

  • Keep in mind:

    • VetSnap pulls inventory data from your PIMS, and updates may take up to 24 hours to sync. If the drug was recently added to your PIMS, it might not appear right away.

    • You can manually add the item in VetSnap now and return the next day to complete code mapping once the item becomes searchable.
